FCC Changes Position on TTS for CAP and EAS
Washington - Apr 19, 2012 - The Federal Communications Commission issued an Order on Reconsideration (adopted and released April 19, 2012), that removes the exception from the EAS-CAP Industry Group (ECIG) guidelines on text-to-speech (TTS) conversion. The FCC has decided to allow TTS conversion as per the ECIG EAS CAP Implementation Guidelines.
The FCC revision "EAS Participants may adhere to the specifications related to text-to-speech on a voluntary basis." The revision also deletes the footnote that said TTS was not allowed.
