Extended Capabilities for APT IP Codecs
Bordeaux-Merignac, France - Mar 31, 2014 - WorldCast Systems is adding extensive functionality to its range of APT IP audio codecs, which will be unveiled at the 2014 NAB Show. System Release 1.3 adds a full range of algorithms, improved plug-and-play ability and support for IP packet forwarding to the already advanced set of features on all of APT's IP codec platforms.
With this latest release, APT's IP codecs offer maximum compatibility to other devices with a full complement of audio algorithms now available as standard on the Horizon Next Gen and Oslo AoIP codecs. These include MPEG 1 Layer II, MPEG 2 Layer II, MPEG 4 AAC-LC, MPEG 4 AAC-LD, MPEG 4 AAC-ELD, MPEG 4 HE-AAC, MPEG 4 HE-AACv2 and Enhanced apt-X in addition to Linear audio. Embedded aux data is also now available on all coding algorithms.
System Release 1.3 also adds greater plug-and-play ability to APT's IP codecs with the addition of support for dynamic DNS services and NAT Traversal mode, enabling a user to get a pair of codecs up and running with minimal fuss and effort.
A major new benefit of the new release will be the addition of IP packet forwarding to the advanced IP capabilities of the APT codec range. Analogous to the drop-and-insert scheme often implemented in T1 and E1 circuits, packet forwarding allows a data stream to be received and forwarded to another destination enabling actions such as the insertion of local content.
The new system release will be available for the Horizon NextGen stereo codec, the Oslo multi-channel platform and, in limited format to the Stream-In/Stream-Out Silver encoder and decoder units.
