Alaska Plans Second EAS EAN Test
Fort Richardson, AK - Jan 20, 2011 - The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the state of Alaska and the Alaska Broadcasters' Association (ABA) will conduct a second statewide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) in Alaska on Jan. 26, 2011, at 10 a.m. Alaska Time (2 p.m. EST) to assess the improvements made in a previous January 2010 Alaska EAS Exercise. Reoccurring radio and television public service announcements began airing Dec. 21, 2010, to inform Alaskans about the exercise. The PSAs were produced in partnership with the ABA and the state of Alaska.
