Sage Digital Endec Problem with FEMA Weekly Test for Jan. 13, 2014
Rye Brook, NY - Jan 15, 2014 - FEMA sent a weekly test message on Jan. 13, 2014 as part of its regular test cycle. It was noted that Sage Digital ENDECs did not receive the test messages. Sage notes that was not a problem with IPAWS, but rather a security certificate used to authenticate IPAWS messages had expired in the ENDEC. Because of this, the ENDEC will not receive IPAWS CAP messages.
Digital ENDEC owners must install a small update in the ENDEC to re-enable IPAWS messages. Download and installation take only a few minutes. Details are on the Sage Alerting website.
Sage suggests affected stations should make a note in the station log that it is known the RWT was missed and that it is an equipment problem that has been corrected with a firmware update.
