CAP Server Online for EAS
Washington - Nov 28, 2011 - Radio magazine found that FEMA has released the information necessary to allow CAP compatible EAS equipment to poll the IPAWS-OPEN system. As equipment manufacturers update and release firmware for their systems, stations will be able to enter a URL (https://apps.fema.gov/) into their encoder/decoders. Stations should check with manufacturer of their EAS units to determine if their units are capable of capturing the CAP data. Radio magazine is told many units are already capable of receiving the CAP data.
While the server is live, sources tell Radio magazine that no data has yet been posted there.
