KUVO with a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in conj unction with National Public Radio Satellite Service and Nautel has develo ped a system to use the HD Radio HDC UDP stream on a single 300kb/s satell ite channel to feed the FM analog and digital signals to translators and f ull stations. Prior systems required two satellite channels making it cost prohibitive. Features of this system include burst data rate management o n the UDP stream to allow the use of a 300kb/s satellite channel\, host au dio extraction from the HDC stream to derive the FM analog audio and an ad vanced error correction system that allows the remote translator and trans mitter sites to request retransmission of lost or damaged HDC packets. The error correction system significantly improving the system's uptime and r eliability.
