Radio One Joins List of PPM Stations in Philadelphia, Los Angeles
New York - Jan 5, 2007 - Radio One has agreed to encode its radio stations in Philadelphia and Los Angeles for the Arbitron Portable People Meter (PPM) audience measurement services. The Portable People Meter system, an electronic audience measurement technology that has been in U.S. market trials since 2001, is scheduled to begin collecting audience estimates in Philadelphia on Jan. 11, 2007, and in Los Angeles in January 2008. An encoding agreement is separate and distinct from any agreement to subscribe to the Portable People Meter ratings services.
Separately, WCRB-FM in Boston and WQXR-FM in New York have signed with Arbitron to participate in PPM measurements. WCRB-FM is licensed to Nassau Broadcasting Partners, and WQXR is licensed to the New York Times Company.
