Burk Technology Announces Custom View Contest Winner
Littleton, MA - Jan 4, 2008 - Burk Technology has announced the winner of the 2007 Custom Views Championship Contest. The contest invited broadcasters to use built-in design tools to create a custom user interface for Burk's Lynx 5, AutoPilot 3 and Auto Pilot Plus remote monitoring and control software.
Robert Yankowitz, RF systems manager for CBS Boston, submitted the winning entry. For his prize, Yankowitz elected to receive a Burk Watchband AM/FM/RDS receiver for remote monitoring of market stations.
Yankowitz designed a graphical representation of a tower light monitoring system for two stations. Operators can monitor and control tower lights and have immediate access to FAA contact info, tower locations and antenna registration numbers. The entry is part of a series of 14 custom views used to monitor eight transmitters at three different CBS Boston sites. Yankowitz says that this is his personal favorite, and the FAA information has proven especially useful on multiple occasions.
Custom views are an integral part of Burk Technology's line of remote monitoring and control systems. They provide operators with a means to view conditions at all sites on a single screen with map views, drill-down alarm detail, summary information, the ability to add custom images, operating procedures and more.
The contest winner was selected by Radio magazine editor Chriss Scherer. Scherer, a broadcast engineer himself, has been the editor of Radio magazine since 1997. and is certified by the Society of Broadcast Engineers as a Certified Professional Broadcast Engineer and a Broadcast Networking Technologist. Company names, call letters and other identifying cues were hidden during the judging process.
