Washington - Feb 6, 2012 - The House Energy and Commerce Committee is expected to review legislation (H.R. 3309, the Federal Communications Commission Process Reform Act of 2011, and H.R. 3310, the Federal Communications Commission Consolidated Reporting Act of 2011) that would consolidate some reporting requirements, codify the unofficial shot clock for merger reviews and limit the types of conditions the agency can place on transactions. Some believe other provisions would likely make it more difficult for the FCC to pass new regulations. The bills are sponsored by Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR).

The National Association of Broadcasters, the National Cable and Telecommunications Association and the U.S. Telecom Association have all endorsed the bills.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee should mark up the bills on Feb. 7, 2012 .
