Digital Radio Update - February 3, 2010
Joan Warner honored by ABU, UK analog shutdown timeline in doubt, FCC says go on HD and Frontier Silicon hits DAB 10 million mark.
An ABU press release points to Warner's leadership in bringing Australian commercial and public broadcasters together for a coordinated industry-wide rollout of DAB+, and to her successful lobby for and management of Band III spectrum allocated by government authorities.
The shutdown timeline, which is also dependent on meeting specific DAB multiplex coverage criteria, is spelled out in a piece of legislation known as the "digital economy bill" currently undergoing approval in Britain's parliament.

Eye on IBOC
The FCC's Mass Media Bureau has adopted a long anticipated order allowing nearly all FM IBOC digital broadcast licensees to voluntarily increase their digital carrier power by at least 6dB.
Frontier's progress with DAB product sales was recently marked with the addition of a new Tokyo office supporting its distributor there, Sanshin Electronics.
