London - May 2, 2014 - The UK's Driving and Vehicle Standards agency (DVSA) has started promoting digital radio. Communications started this week with four Tweets from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing agency (DVLA), which were later re-Tweeted by the DVSA.

The DVLA has just 10,000 followers but messages promoting digital radio will also go out in 35 million annual vehicle tax reminders later this year. This is the first time that the government has communicated directly with drivers, according to RadioToday.

Digital Radio UK has also started running campaigns on commercial radio about converting cars to digital radio and getting digital radio new cars. In the second half of 2014 Kwik-Fit plans to launch a new service of offering digital radio upgrades when they conduct vehicle "Ministry of Transport" tests.
