New Digital Radio "Tick Mark" Launched in UK
London - Mar 25, 2014 - The new digital radio "tick mark" was introduced this morning to UK automotive industry attendees at an event hosted by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
According to RadioToday, the tick mark can be used on approved digital radios for cars, as well as registered car audio installers who have passed a training and accreditation program, managed by the UK's Institute of the Motor Industry.
"The introduction of the digital radio tick mark is a welcome development for motorists. It will provide added reassurance in the technology, a crucial factor in accelerating uptake in new and used vehicles," said SMMT Chief Executive Mike Hawes.
Laurence Harris of Digital Radio UK explained to the audience the process for obtaining the tick and how it would be managed. He said significant vehicle manufacturers and installers have already confirmed that they want to use the tick. Jane Ostler, Communications Director of Digital Radio UK, outlined how the tick would be communicated to consumers, and announced an agreement between DRUK and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency to use their communications channels to raise awareness and understanding of digital radios for in-car use.
