More DAB Transmitters Activated in South Wales
Llanelli, Wales - Sep 6, 2013 - Three new DAB mux transmitters were activated in the south of Wales, according to Radio Today. The transmitter locations at Preseli, Carmel and Kilvey Hill will provide coverage for about 350,000 potential listeners in addition to about 1000 km of roads in the region.
The addition of the three transmitters, along with those turned on earlier this year, means that about 900,000 potential listeners can now receive national stations via DAB for the first time. Next year, the northwest portion of Wales will have DAB transmitters turned on for the first time, taking the overall DAB coverage of Wales up to about 78 percent of the Welsh population.
BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru, Nation Radio, Nation Hits! and Real Radio Wales, as well as local stations Radio Pembrokeshire and Radio Carmarthenshire are among the stations carried on the new transmitters.
