Media Broadcast Activates Text Distribution Across German DAB
Bonn, Germany - Nov 4, 2011 - Media Broadcast is starting its Datacast platform for the dissemination of multimedia services via the new digital radio transmitter network operating in Germany. This platform allows for nationwide broadcasting of data services such as electronic program guides, text messages (Journaline) or traffic information.
Initially, information transmitted over the new system will be derived from the RSS feeds of RedBull.de and digitalradio.de. Those RSS updates are converted into the Journaline text format. (Journaline is a new database application for digital radio systems. It provides hierarchical and categorized text information can be accessed by the user quickly and easily.) The system requires only low data rates and makes few demands on the decoder and display hardware resources in the receiver. Journaline-enabled digital radios represent the next step in the evolution of digital radio technology; with a Journaline-capable radio, the listener can retrieve the simple text and image information like a news channel.
The new Datacast platform of Media Broadcast will be expanded gradually in the coming months. The technology is ideal for distribution, for example, regular newsletter from retailers.
