KACU Goes Elevated IBOC with Continental
Public radio outlet KACU in Abilene, TX, has purchased the first Continental Electronics 816 HD transmitter to ship factory adjusted for -10dBc IBOC digital operation. Utilizing low-level hybrid combining coupled into a tube PA, the manufacturer boasts that the system is more efficient and cost effective than high-level combiner approaches.
Also included in the KACU purchase were Continental digital exciter and exporter platforms.
KACU is licensed to Abilene Christian University on 89.7 with an analog TPO of 9.1kW and ERP of 33kW.
