Fur Continues to Fly in IBOC Power Boost Comments

Radio on FacebookJoin us on Facebook

Three of the parties asking the FCC to either review or reconsider its blanket approval of a 6dB increase in FM IBOC digital carrier power fired back last week after iBiquity, the NAB, and NPR weighed in with filings asking the Commission to disregard petitions for reconsideration and applications for review of the matter.

Filing responses to those opposition comments were Mullaney Engineering, the Prometheus Radio Project, and Press Communications.

While none of the replies introduced anything new to the debate, the comments filed make it clear that emotions are still running high over potential interference and a belief by the parties that the interest of smaller commercial and non-CPB eligible NCE/LPFM stations are being ignored.
