2011 Mini and Kia Get HD Radio
Woodcliff Lake, NJ, and San Francisco - Aug 4, 2010 - HD Radio is coming to two car models in 2011: Mini and Kia.
In the Mini, HD Radio and Sirius satellite radio will both be standard for all 2011 Mini models. Previously, these options were priced at $500 each. Buyers will receive a one-year subscription for Sirius. Mini will also offer additional options. The Connected option adds a 6.5" hi-resolution screen, comfort Bluetooth with smartphone prep, voice recognition, and a joystick controller to access all features. The Connected option adds real-time traffic information. The new navigation system uses an internal hard memory card and maps can be updated through a USB port in the glove box.
The 2011 Kia Sportage will include an AM/FM/HD Radio/CD/MP3/sat audio system with Sirius Satellite Radio capabilities with three months complimentary service. Also standard are auxiliary and USB audio input jacks for connecting with MP3 players and Bluetooth wireless technology connectivity with steering wheel-mounted voice activation controls. The 2011 Sportage also will be among the first Kia models to offer UVO powered by Microsoft, an advanced hands-free in-car communication and entertainment system (standard on EX models) that enables drivers and passengers to answer and place phone calls, receive and respond to SMS text messages, access music from a variety of media sources and create custom music experiences.
