Frontier Presents Venice 9
Frontier Silicon, a major supplier of digital radio and network audio technology, used CES 2011 as a staging point for its new Venice 9 digital radio module, designed for application as a slave device in OEM consumer digital audio systems.
Frontier claims that this latest iteration of its popular Venice module series boasts full WorldDMB profile 1 compliance, including DAB, DAB+ and DMB compatibility along with analog FM and RDS in a package intended to reduce footprint and power consumption in multi-standard receivers. Optional D/A converters are also available as part of the module.
VHF Band III DAB and band II analog transmission are supported with an optional L Band variant also available, all fed from a single antenna input.
A Frontier press release says the company hopes to attract new OEM buyers by offering its Wolfsburg evaluation kit with samples of the new module, which includes a development board and software that can speed the integration process and reduce product time to market.
Venice 9's launch coincides neatly with a planned rollout of public and commercial DAB+ services in Germany later this year.
