France's CSA Solicits DAB Apps, Nets at Least 178
Paris - June 8, 2012 - The Solicitation for DAB applicants by France's CSA has generated at least 178 applications for licenses, according to an article in Telerama/France. Major commercial radio groups in France, including NRJ, NextRadio and RTL, remain opposed; however, independents, non-commercial hopefuls, and Radio France are forging ahead. Permits are expected to be issued by the end of this year, and new DAB transmissions should start in the first half of next year.
