DRM Shows New Receivers at IBC

Amsterdam - Sep 5, 2006 - The latest DRM-capable, multi-standard consumer products will arrive at the DRM booth at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam this week. At the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin last week ST Microelectronics, Kenwood and Fraunhofer presented a fully working prototype of a DRM receiver. This prototype paves the way to the development of a low-power application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) for DRM applications such as fixed and portable radios, car receivers, software receivers and personal digital assistants (PDAs). Additionally, Audi and Fraunhofer demonstrated News Service Journaline inside an Audi vehicle. The service, which can be accessed with PC-based DRM receivers, allows passengers to navigate through thematically organized textual news.

DRM will show several receivers at IBC, including the Morphy Richards DRM Radio, two new prototype portable receivers by Himalaya (Power) Electronics, the new W37 receiver from Starwaves, Radioscape's RS500 DAB/DRM module, a live off-air electronic program guide (EPG) demonstration by the BBC, and Nero's DRM hardware decoder IP core solutions.
