Bern - Jun 26, 2013 - Digris has received authorization from the Swiss Office of Communications to build multiple DAB+ transmission facilities around Switzerland, according to Romandie.com. Unlike the large networks that are built to cover as much of the country as possible, though, Digris will build sites that cover small islands or patches of the country. The first transmitters will cover Geneva and Zurich; work will continue on further transmitters till 2015 when all large Swiss cities are expected to be covered.

Digris will transmit what it calls open broadcast, which allows users to gain access to the DAB+ transmitters via the Internet. On its website it describes the system as "Switzerland's first user-generated programming, from what the community produces via the online platform."
