Digital Radio Continues to Gain Across Norway
OSLO—Radio.no reports that 47% of listeners in Norway are using digital radio on a daily basis. This represents a 2% increase over last quarter.
According to Radio.no, “When DAB owners today are asked about what qualities they think are most important for DAB, the three most frequently mentioned are ‘sound quality’, ‘multi-channel’ and ‘better coverage.’ DAB is the largest platform for digital radio listening.”
1.67 million DAB radios receivers have been sold in Norway, and 45% of Norwegian households report having at least one DAB radio. 12% of households report having car DAB radio. Electronics stores are mainly selling digital radios, a consequence of the fact FM transmissions will be ‘sun-setted’ in Norway in just a few years.
