Peacock's broadcast career started in 1973 as a weekend overnight board operator, but soon discovered a knack for engineering. His first engineering position was with Bristol Broadcasting WKAZ-AM and WQBE-FM in Charleston, WV.
After a stint with a non-profit organization bringing the Internet to Mobile, he returned to radio in 1996 to work for Capitol Broadcasting, which was later acquired by Clear Channel.
