VS-2000CD from Roland

Recording at 16 or 24 bits, the 16-bit mode provides 18-track playback and a stereo mastering track, while the 24-bit mode provides 12-track playback. Up to eight tracks can be recorded at one time in either mode. The unit features an internal 40GB hard drive, a CD-RW drive and a USB port. Up to 320 virtual tracks are available. Eight XLR inputs with phantom power, eight TRS inputs, a ΒΌ" hi-Z input and a S/PDIF input are provided. Each channel has a four-band EQ for any input or track. On-board effects include reverb, delay, chorus, dynamics processors and EQ. An effect expansion board allows plugin support.

Wavelab 5 from Steinberg

Now in version 5, Wavelab features multi-channel surround audio support of up to eight channels. Surround-to-stereo down-mixing is user definable. Projects are edited in the Audio Montage window, which includes multi-channel metering and analysis. This version adds WMA Pro 5.1 and 7.1 file export and AVI audio import in addition to WAV, AIFF, AU, MP3, MP2, RAW, Windows Media 9 and AES-31. Files can be manipulated at up to 32-bit and 192kHz resolution. The software supports VST plugins and runs on Windows 2000 or XP. CD burning support is also included.

Sound Forge software is a digital audio editor that includes a powerful set of audio processes, tools and effects for recording and manipulating audio. RF Investigator from RF Software

RF Investigator-FM is an engineering tool for applying for a new FM broadcast station or making changes to an existing one. It performs spacing and contour analyses. Users can search its database of FM stations and applications. It comes with an antenna pattern design tool and a terrain profile tool.

Optimod-PC 1100 from Orban

Ideal for digital audio broadcasting (DAB), Internet Web/netcasting and recording applications, this PCI card has on-board DSP that's suitable for both live streaming and on-demand programming. The Optimod-PC offers two digital inputs with mixing of asynchronous sources, and sound card emulation that allows Optimod-PC to talk through the operating system to applications running on the host. Optimod-PC uses look-ahead limiting with low overshoot, effectively preventing clipping in the sound card or encoder overload. It ships with more than 20 factory presets.
