High Winds Fell WWVA Towers
Wheeling, WV - Aug 5, 2010 - During the severe weather outbreak the afternoon of Aug 4, 2010, the three WWVA-AM towers in St. Clairsville, OH, were knocked over by strong winds. The programming of WWVA was temporarily transferred to sister station WBBD 1400, which normally carries adult standards. The WWVA website has photos taken after the storm.
Clear Channel engineers are working to erect temporary towers. The station has intermittently returned to the air at a reduced power while the work progresses.
