WAEB Tower Falls, Guy Wires Cut
Whitehall Twp, PA - Sep 8, 2009 - On the same day towers in Washington were toppled by vandals, a tower near Allentown, PA, was also felled. A 350' tower used by WAEB-AM was brought down early on the morning of Sept. 4 when the guy wires were cut. The FBI is looking into the possibility of the two events being linked, although the case is being investigated by the local police.
The tower was one of five in an array. The station operated without interruption, continuing to operate with the remaining towers.
Unlike the WRKO case, the WAEB towers were not the subject of local controversy.
