Vatican Radio Cuts Back on MW and SW, Focuses on Internet, Satellite, DAB
Vatican City - Jun 12, 2012 - Director General of Vatican Radio Father Federico Lombardi announced the service would be reducing its MW and SW as of July 1, 2012, and that resources previously used for those purposes would be redirected elsewhere.
Vatican Radio Live has coverage via DAB and DAB+ throughout most of Italy. Vatican Radio's 40 different language programs can be received via satellite and the Internet, and they are also available live on five Web channels, on-demand and in podcast, from Vatican Radio's website. Additionally, Vatican Radio programs are rebroadcast by about 1,000 local radio stations on FM or medium-wave in more than 80 countries around the world.
