London - Jun 2, 2011 - Radioplayer is a search engine that gives listeners throughout the UK access to live broadcasts, on-demand replays, and podcasts from 238 radio stations throughout that nation. The founding partners of Radioplayer (a not-for-profit company) are the BBC, Global Radio, GMG radio, Absolute Radio and RadioCentre.

In May 2011 alone, more than 22 million radio programs were listened to by 5.7 million unique users. (Uniques in this case are defined by IP address. In-office listeners would likely be disguised by network address translation, so it is possible that the actual number exceeds 5.7 million.) About 20 percent of those listeners sampled more than one station. Currently Radioplayer is optimized for desktop computer use; development of an application for mobile devices and tablets is being considered.
