Sirius XM Launches Android App
Owners of Motorola-built Android phones can now join iPhone and Blackberry users accessing Sirius XM online content via either wireless carrier or Wi-fi connections, courtesy of a free app being released by the sat-caster later this month.
Among the bullet-pointed features of the new app are user ability to listen to Sirus XM content while surfing or checking e-mail, bookmark channels, and access a lookaround function that lets them see what's available on alternate channels.
Before Android owners get too excited, though, they may want to read the fine print. Siruis XM online access requires a separate monthly premium online subscription over and above its normal radio service subscription price, and certain content such as MLB Play-by-Play, NFL Play-by-Play, Sirius Nascar Radio and Howard Stern are not available online due to contractual restriction.
A free 7-day trial subscription is being offered to those downloading the app for the first time.
