SES Prepares to Launch 50th Satellite
Luxemburg - Nov 21, 2011 - SESdelivered the SES-4 satellite to the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, where it is being processed for launch aboard an ILS Proton Breeze M vehicle provided by International Launch Services (ILS). The SES-4 satellite was designed and built for SES by Space Systems/Loral (SS/L). The launch is scheduled to take place in late December 2011.
SES-4 will be the 50th satellite in the global SES fleet. It will also be the largest, most powerful SES satellite, with the ability to provide fixed satellite services with 52 C-band and 72 Ku-band transponders. Coverage will include all of Africa, Eastern Europe, and North and South America. The satellite will provide regional spot-beams to the Middle East,Europe, West Africa and the Americas. SES-4 will replace the NSS-7 satellite at 338 degrees east longitude.
