SBE Elevates Behr, Schoedler, Wilkins to Fellow
Las Vegas - Apr 9, 2013 - The Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) has elevated three members to the membership rank of Fellow. The SBE Board of Directors elected Lawrence V. Behr of Greenville, NC, James B. Schoedler of Denver, and Larry J. Wilkins of Prattville, AL, at their meeting held April 7 in Las Vegas, during the NAB Show.
Behr is CEO of the consulting group, LBA Group. Schoedler is a broadcast industry consultant. Wilkins is employed by the Alabama Broadcasters Association.
The Fellow honor is the highest membership level in the SBE. Members must have made significant contributions to the broadcast engineering field or the SBE. Candidates are nominated by their peers. Sixty-two members have been honored with the Fellow rank in the SBE's 49-year history.
The three recipients will be recognized for their election to Fellow during the SBE National Awards Dinner on Oct. 30, 2013 in Indianapolis. The dinner is part of the annual SBE National Meeting.
The SBE has more than 5,300 members in 114 chapters across the United States and in Hong Kong. SBE members can also be found in more than 20 other countries. Most chapters meet monthly and offer educational programs and an opportunity to network with other engineers. The SBE offers the largest and most recognized certification program for broadcast engineers, operators and technicians, with more than 5,000 certifications currently active. The SBE also offers a growing number of online and traditional educational courses and seminars for the technical broadcasting community.
