To reinforce its presence in radio broadcasting, Sadie recently sponsored In The Dark's high-profile events at the London International Documentary Festival (LIDF), which took place in early May 2010. In The Dark is an organization that celebrates the culture of radio documentary in the UK. Through workshops and live listening events that bring together producers from around the world it aims to encourage a thriving community where radio can be easily accessed, enjoyed and discussed.
Last fall, Alpha Broadcasting purchased four CBS Radio stations and two Rose City Radio stations in Portland, OR. Rose City had been using vCreative PPO for two years, and now all six Alpha Broadcasting stations will streamline production workflow with PPO.
Five Journal Broadcasting in Nebraska -- KEZO-FM, KSRZ-FM, KQCH-FM, KKCD-FM and KXSP-AM -- are using the vCreative PPO to submit and track production requests. Journal/Omaha is in the middle of moving staff and studios to a different building, and uses the system to conduct business from two separate facilities.
The new mobile studio for the Folk Alley live streaming Web radio program from Kent, OH-based WKSU-FM has installed Audio-Technica microphones for announcement/voiceover applications, live music broadcast and in-studio guests/performances. The vehicle has been in use since Aug. 1, 2009, and was part of the team for the National Public Radio stream from the 50th Anniversary Newport Folk Festival later that month. Included in the studio’s microphone arsenal are AE5400 cardioid condenser handheld microphones, AE5100 cardioid condenser instrument microphones, PRO 35 cardioid condenser clip-on instrument microphones and AT875R line + gradient condenser microphones.
Morocco's Luxe Radio, a new radio station dedicated to luxury and the art of living, was launched deploying the latest version of the Netia Radio-Assist 8 suite of digital audio automation software. One of just four new stations to have received a private broadcast license from Morocco's Higher Council of Audiovisual Communication, Luxe Radio broadcasts from Casablanca to six cities: Rabat, Marrakech, Agadir, Essaouira, El Jadida and Casablanca itself. The Netia installation in Casablanca includes 15 workstations with two dedicated to playout and a backup used to provide redundancy.
Riverbend Communications has chosen Axia IP-audio radio consoles and routing equipment to upgrade its six-station cluster in Idaho Falls, ID. KLCE-FM, KFTZ-FM, KCVI-FM, KTHK-FM, KBLY-AM and KBLI-AM are in the cluster. The purchase includes six 16-position Axia Element 2.0 radio consoles, several copies of the Axia IP-Audio Driver for Windows and Axia iProFiler networked audio logging software.
MCS Sachsen, the German broadcast provider for the German public broadcast network MDR, installed a new Riedel Communications Artist intercom system. The system combines the MDR TV and radio studios into a single communications system. An Artist 128 is used at the TV studios, and an Artist 64 is used for the radio broadcast studios.
