Netia today announced that SHEMS FM, a new privately owned radio station based in Tunis, Tunisia, is being equipped with the Radio-Assist 8 suite of digital audio automation software to support both traditional and Internet broadcast operations using only uncompressed WAV files. The Netia software will enable SHEMS FM to establish efficient media logging, management, and production for its Internet streaming, podcasts and on-demand services.
Digigram announced a major commercial and technological partnership with TDF Group, one of the leading operators of shared facilities and terrestrial networks in Europe. TDF assists its clients -- television networks, radio stations, telecommunications operators, ISPs and local municipalities -- across the entire value chain of audiovisual and telecoms networks: From upstream to downstream, with deployment, maintenance, and operation of transport and distribution networks and on-site hosting of operators' equipment in TDF's sites. The TDF Group has selected Digigram's IQOYA and PYKO IP transport solutions as the basis for its own Audio-over-IP proposals. The PYKO range was chosen for solutions that transit in part over the public Internet network, whereas the IQOYA range, particularly the *LINK/LE and *SERV/LINK products will be used for projects based on the TMS network, which is fully controlled and operated by TDF.
Australia's Special Broadcasting Service (SBS), a public radio and television broadcaster delivering media in 68 different languages, is using Netia's Radio-Assist automation system to publish content to its website. The Radio-Assist publishing module provides all the media asset management capabilities required by SBS to manage both media and metadata.
Syndicated content provider Bell Media Group of Raleigh, NC, has deployed the Barix Reflector Service to distribute live North Carolina Central University football and basketball games to eight regional AM radio stations comprising the NCCU Sports Network.
Monumental Sports and Entertainment (NHL's Washington Capitals and NBA's Washington Wizards) has entered into a multi-year partnership with Skyview Networks. Skyview, an integrated professional sports broadcast company specializing in play-by-play broadcast systems, will provide satellite distribution for radio, wise satellite receivers and its F.A.S.T. Inventory Management System to the Monumental Sports and Entertainment radio networks.
KDLS-FM, a commercial radio station serving the greater Des Moines, IA, region, has fired up a new Harris ZX3750 FM transmitter. The station, owned by Latin Broadcasting Company, operates at 3kW TPO and broadcasts the only Spanish-language-format program in central Iowa. Harris reseller SCMS secured the deal and shipped the transmitter on short notice to replace an aging transmitter that had become unreliable.
