DTS will be providing surround sound technology for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa June 11 - July 11. By using DTS Neural Surround, ESPN and other broadcasters will provide soccer fans in the United States and Brazil with high quality 5.1 surround sound. Hardware integrated on-site includes the DTS Neural Surround Sound encoders and decoders as well as the Mono2Stereo 4-channel stereo synthesizer built by hardware partner and licensee DaySequerra.
WPP/GroupM has signed a multi-year contract for Arbitron's Portable People Meter and Diary radio ratings services across all markets. Arbitron's Portable People Meter and Diary radio rating services provide insights to broadcasters, advertisers and advertising agencies on consumer exposure to radio.
At the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Oslo, Norway, a dozen Mayah C11 audio codecs were used for commentator transmissions. Among the broadcasters using Mayah codecs were the BBC (UK), SR and SVT (Sweden), TROS (Netherlands), SF (Switzerland) and the radio division of the host broadcaster NRK (Russia).
At the Football World Cup 2010 in South Africa there are about 30 Mayah C11 codecs used for ISDN communication between the various locations in the country and the broadcasters' headquarters. Many are also using audio-over-IP connections when ISDN is not available.
