Radio magazine Honored in Missouri Association of Publications 5th Annual Ranly Awards
Columbia, MO - Mar 16, 2011 - Publication professionals from around the state of Missouri attended the 5th Annual Ranly Publications Awards Ceremony and banquet to recognize outstanding magazines, newsletters, websites, e-zines and e-letters. Radio magazine was among the finalists.
The March 2010 issue of Radio magazine was a finalist in the Best Entire Issue category. That issue sported a superhero theme to frame the 2010 NAB Show preview. Other articles in the issue included a N/ACIP primer, a tour of KUNV in Las Vegas, and a look at a Colorado Public Radio broadcast with Yo-Yo Ma.
Radio magazine also had two articles in the Best Single Written Article category. One finalist was the February 2010 Trends in Technology article Portable Recorder Lineup. This article included a comparison table of various features of many popular portable recorders.
The big news is that Radio magazine won the Best Single Written Article category with the December 2010 article called KMXL-FM/KDMO-AM: Small Town, Big Ideas. This article profiled the studio upgrades at an AM/FM family-owned combo in Carthage, MO. The stations replaced their aging analog equipment with digital consoles and routers and completely remodeled the studio infrastructure in the process.
Radio magazine has also been honored with editorial recognitions by the Society of Broadcast Engineers, the American Society of Business Publication Editors, and Folio magazine.
The Ranlys are named in honor of MAP founder, MAP emeritus board member, and professor emeritus of the Missouri School of Journalism, Don Ranly, Ph.D. A professor of journalism for 31 years at the Missouri School of Journalism, Dr. Ranly is an author of articles and books on writing and editing, is an award-winning teacher, and is an award-winning speaker.
