Radio magazine's Erin Shipps Receives INKY Award
Las Vegas - Apr 10, 2011 - The INKYs, awards for media covering media technology, were announced during The INKYs reception awards ceremony and reception held during the NAB Show.
Erin Shipps, senior associate editor for Radio magazine received the Unsung Behind the Scenes Hero (Radio) award. Shipps has been with Radio magazine for nearly 4 years. She has a Bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Kansas.
Other NewBay award recipients include: Excellent Editors, (Radio) Paul McLane, Radio World; (Television/Print/USA) Tom Butts, TV Technology, (Television/International) Mark Hallinger, TV Technology Europe and Asia Pacific; Stupendous Staff Reporter or Writer, James O'Neal, TV Technology; Fab Freelancer, John Bisset, Radio World; and Unsung Behind the Scenes Hero (Television), Caroline Freeland, NewBay Media.
During the awards ceremony, The INKYs Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Stevan B. Dana, founder of IMAS Publishing who created brands such as Radio World and TV Technology.
This year, the reception was also dedicated to the memory of Art Constantine, who was killed with his wife, Lisa Schub, during a motorcycle crash with a police cruiser on March 19, 2011, in New Jersey.
Winners were chosen by a judging committee from the nominees in each category. Heavy weight was given to nominees with strong written entries versus number of submissions entered.
The INKYs are awards for media covering media technology. Nominees can be submitted by anyone in the industry at no charge. There are five main categories including: Excellent Editor, Stupendous Staff Reporter or Writer, Fab Freelancer, Kick Butt Sales Rep, and Unsung Behind The Scenes Hero. Categories are broken down by specific market within the industry, geography and online/print. A select judging committee determines winners based on the entries received. There is also a Lifetime Achievement award.
