NAB Announces Crystal Radio Award Finalists
Washington, DC - Mar 12, 2007 - The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) has announced the 50 finalists for the 2007 Crystal Radio Awards competition. Since 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round commitment to community service. This year's finalists follow.

The Crystal Radio Award finalists were chosen by a panel of judges representing broadcasting, community service organizations and public relations firms. The finalists will be honored and the winners announced at the Radio Luncheon on April 17 during NAB2007.
The Radio Luncheon will feature a keynote address by Brian Cooley, editor for CNET.com. Rick Dees, legendary radio personality who recently joined Emmis-owned Movin' 93.9 in Los Angeles, will also be inducted into the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
Etherwaves Acquires Sonarics Labs Digital Radio Technology
Tel-Aviv, Israel - Mar 12, 2007 - Etherwaves has completed the acquisition of all the assets of Sonarics Labs, a company specializing in digital audio broadcasting (DAB) and digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) technology. Sonarics Labs technology is already in use in digital radio receivers around the world, in the consumer electronics market and in German luxury in-car systems.
Etherwaves develops and licenses digital radio and mobile TV intellectual property, targeting the automotive and the system-on-chip (SOC) markets. The Etherwaves' core agnostic software can operate on a standard core processor. The company's products support DAB, DAB+, T-DMB, DRM and FM and will also comply with HD Radio, DMB-T (China), ISDB-T and DVB-H.
Media Monitors Hits 700 Client Mark
White Plains, NY - Mar 9, 2007 - Media Monitors has surpassed the 700 client mark, which includes radio and TV stations, local cable services and newspapers. The service was created in 2003.
The company's content recognition process of audio fingerprinting is protected by U.S. Patent 5,437,050.
Day Sequerra Sells 1,000th HD Radio Monitor
West Berlin, NJ - Mar 15, 2007 - Day Sequerra has sold its 1,000th HD Radio monitor. The unit was sold to Vermont Public Radio (VPR) in Burlington, VT, who ordered the new Model M4.2R. VPR already owns a number of Day Sequerra M2.2 and M4.0 units, and will use the new M4.2R for audio monitoring and to alarm key parameters of its HD Radio signal.
The new M4.2R includes six dry, floating relay contacts that can be programmed to operate on the loss of HD Radio PAD, analog RBDS data, audio, RF carrier, OFDM lock, multicast available and delay bit status. The unit can stream PAD from its Ethernet port, or function as a fully remote controllable tuner/alarm using the included proprietary Day Sequerra Remote Dashboard software. HD Radio SIS and PAD are displayed in the M4.2R's vacuum florescent display along with RBDS data, signal strength and multipath.
In addition to balanced left and right analog outputs, the unit contains a transformer-driven digital output that operates full time, even when the M4.2R is tuned to an analog station.
Vermont Public Radio will use the M4.2R to monitor WVPS, 107.9 FM, currently transmitting three HD Radio streams.
Will-Burt Acquires AMI
Orrville, OH - Mar 12, 2007 - Will-Burt has acquired Antenna Mast Incorporated (AMI). AMI specializes in the design and manufacture of portable, multi-use telescoping mast systems. AMI will be integrated into the Mast Division of Will-Burt.
Will-Burt manufactures solutions for a variety of commercial, mobile, industrial and military applications.
Snover Named VP of Wirecad
Nampa, ID - Mar 2, 2007 - Paul Snover has joined Wirecad as vice president of sales and marketing. Snover comes to Wirecad with a technology background and with years of experience on the ground as a system designer, integrator and entrepreneur.
Snover graduated from Mesa State College, Grand Junction, CO, Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Art.
DK-Technologies Appoints Broberg as Director
Copenhagen - Mar 12, 2007 - DK-Technologies has appointed Jorgen Broberg to the position of director of sales and marketing. Broberg has extensive financial and management experience within the telecommunications, Internet and high-tech industries, as well as sales and marketing experience with Danish and international corporations.
His last position was at Sonion A/S, a Danish-owned international company that develops and manufactures advanced electro acoustical and electromechanical components for hearing instruments, mobile terminals and medical devices.
Broberg holds a M.Sc. in economics and business administration and a graduate diploma in business administration from Copenhagen Business School. He has also studied at Henley Management College, London, and at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Barone Named Managing Director of Landmark
New York - Mar 12, 2007 - Robert Barone has been appointed the managing director of Landmark Digital Services. Barone was previously senior vice president information technology and operations for BMI, and a member of the team that led to BMI's acquisition of the art Blue Arrow digital audio recognition technology and the establishment of Landmark Digital Services in August 2005.
Landmark is a wholly owned subsidiary of BMI. It was formed to own, deploy and develop the Blue Arrow technology and now has independent offices in Nashville and a staff of two dozen. Landmark's first focus is to provide BMI with additional radio performance data, expected to begin later this year.
Barone joined BMI in December 1993 as vice president information technology and was named BMI's senior vice president operations and information technology in 1999. Prior to joining BMI, he held senior staff positions with MCA and Capitol-EMI. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from California State University, Northridge.
Axia Updates IP-Audio Driver
Cleveland - Mar 14, 2007 - Axia Audio has released a new version of its IP-audio driver for Windows. Version 184.108.40.206 is an incremental upgrade that addresses several usability and performance issues. Users of a a previous version are encouraged to obtain the free update, which is available to registered users.
A PC with the IP-Audio Driver becomes an Axia audio node. Its Ethernet port connects directly to the Livewire network, and the Axia driver handles all necessary audio conversions.
New features in Version 220.127.116.11 include an added audio recording path through the Windows Mixer for easier recording of local audio streams, reordered stream identifiers for easier configuration when using multiple-output audio playback or digital delivery systems, and enhanced interoperability with Windows Firewall.
The Axia IP-Audio Driver comes in two versions: a one-input, one-output version for use with audio editing workstations, and a 16-in/16-out version available directly from Axia Delivery System partners. Users of the single-stream IP-Audio Driver may download a software update from www.AxiaAudio.com/downloads. Users with the multi-stream version can obtain the update directly from their delivery system provider.
Day Sequerra Offers Upgrade Path for M2 and M4
West Berlin, NJ - Mar 14, 2007 - Day Sequerra has announced a factory upgrade program for existing M2 and M4 HD Radio modulation monitors and tuners to add the new features of the newer models, the M2.2R and M4.2R.
The new tuners add functions such as Ethernet remote control and logging, programmable audio, data and multicast alarms, dry, floating alarm relay contact closures, notifications by e-mail and full-time AES output.
Current M2 and M4 users can contact Day Sequerra at firstname.lastname@example.org with the serial numbers of their units to request upgrade information.
