Tieline Bridge-IT, Genie IP Codecs Add IPv6 Readiness
Indianapolis - Mar 28, 2011 - The Tieline Technology Bridge-IT and Genie IP audio codecs have added IPv6 compatibility, enabling them to connect over IPv4 and the new IPv6 Internet infrastructure.
As the Internet under IPv4 runs out of IP addresses, IPv6 will take over. Billions of new IP addresses will be made available for Internet use. According to Neil Morrish, Tieline R&D manager, an IPv4-only device cannot talk to an IPv6-only device or vice versa. As a result, in the very near future all broadcasters will have to manage connections between both IPv4 and IPv6 network infrastructures to maintain connectivity across networks and the Internet.
