David Reaves

New York - Feb 4, 2012 - David Reaves and Translantech have ended their relationship. Reaves was half-interest owner in the audio level control manufacturer, which he helped found in 1998. He said he took leave in late 2009 while separation details were worked out with partner Jim Huste.

"I have spent the past two years advancing my basic knowledge in the fields of mathematics, audio DSP and software coding (C, C++ and Objective-C with Cocoa/CocoaTouch) and Loudness Perception theory," Reaves said in a statement. "This is added to what I would like to believe is substantial analog design experience and an intuitive grasp of what qualitatively works and doesn't in high-performance loudness and level control."

Reaves, who lives in Germany, was chief engineer of WHTZ-FM in New York from 1988 to 1996, and also worked for NBC-TV. Translantech's Ariane processor line is named after his spouse.

Reaves said he hopes to join or found a design group, possibly in traditional broadcast hardware or automatic audio control in personal, mobile and cloud applications.
