New York - Nov 5, 2012 - Pandora and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) have been in talks about music licensing fees since the two groups' existing experimental deal, penned in 2005, ran out in 2010. When no deal could be struck, Pandora turned to the courts. The streamer is asking the court to set "reasonable" license fees through 2015. Pandora claims the current fees prevent the company from being profitable. The terms that ran through 2010 were not disclosed.

Earlier this year, ASCAP reached an agreement with the Radio Music Licensing Committee (RMLC), which represents broadcasters. Pandora says ASCAP refused to offer the same terms that terrestrial radio stations were provided.
