NTI Updates XL2 Sound Meter

Schaan, Liechtenstein - Feb 12, 2014 - NTI has updated the XL2 sound meter. The statistical distribution of sound pressure levels is commonly used for environmental noise analysis. Now XL2 allows measurement of any percentile level from 1 percent through 99 percent, and it defines the time and frequency weightings for the statistics. Users may choose one of the frequency weightings A, C or Z and the time weighting Fast, Slow as well as Leq.

The XL2 sound level meter also now provides individual under-range indicators for both C- and Z-weighted sound levels. These inform users, during low level measurements, that an alternative microphone with lower noise floor or higher sensitivity should be used. This new feature ensures increased confidence in measurement integrity while maintaining simplicity of measurement.

These new features are offered by the XL2 with firmware V2.72 or higher. The XL2 offers percentile measurements of wide band levels as well as the 1/1 and 1/3 octave spectrum. Percentile measurements are part of the optional Extended Acoustic Pack.
