AMs are doing well. News/talk/sports formats do very well. BIA says the audiences attracted by this programming are sought by national advertisers, so these stations can generate substantial revenues.
Nine of the ten were in the top ten for 2009. The only new station breaking the top ten was WFAN-AM, which was at number 12 for 2009 and has been in the top ten in previous years. WGN-AM, the news/talk station in Chicago, slipped out of the top ten this year to 11th, only slightly behind number ten, KROQ.
