WEBO Receives Community Service Award
Quincy, IL - Sep 26, 2011 - WEBO accepted a Community Service Award presented by Broadcast Electronic's Criss Onan and Scott Fybush of Fybush.com/NorthEast Radio Watch for continued service to the local communities of Tioga County during the flooding disaster.
At the Binghamton Broadcasters annual reunion, WEBO 1330 AM owner Dave Radigan shared with fellow broadcasters his stories of station survival and service during the worst flooding to hit southwest New York in decades.
At one point, he told Broadcast Electronic's Criss Onan that he wheeled his BE AudioVAULT computer through flood waters to dry land by pushing it down the street in an office chair.
WEBO 1330 AM remained on the air throughout the national disaster earlier this month, providing a trusted source of emergency information to the community of hard-hit Tioga County. After being flooded out of their downtown Owego, NY, studios and forced to move to a borrowed RV and then to a makeshift studio in Radigan's living room, WEBO AM staff continued to provide post-flooding coverage using BE's AudioVAULT and broadcasting from a BE AM 5E transmitter.
