WAXX Tower Falls
Fairchild, WI - Mar 23, 2011 - A 2,000' tower in Eau Claire County Wisconsin came down the evening of March 22. The tower housed WEAU-TV and WAXX-FM. The weather was windy and icy, although it is not yet known if that was the cause of the structural failure.
For now, WAXX is transmitting programming on 92.9, its sister station WECL-FM. The WECL program is being streamed online. WEAU is streaming its programming online and transmitting on a muticast channel of Eau Claire ABC-affiliate WQOW.
The tower was reportedly built in 1966.
