French Broadcasting Association SIRTI Takes CSA to Court over Digital Broadcasting Licenses
Paris - Feb 29, 2012 - French Broadcaster's Association SIRTI is taking legal action against the French media regulator CSA. At issue is CSA's refusal to license over-the-air digital broadcast stations in Paris, Marseille and Nice. SIRTI also wants digital radio to be a free service. There were 136 candidates for digital broadcasting licensing in the three cities in 2008; CSA ultimately did not let the licensing process go through. At the same time the CSA issued a tender for a nation-wide T-DMB service vendor. A French court will hear the cases on March 15, 2012.
