SBE Awards First CBNE Certifications
Indianapolis - Aug 10, 2012 - The Society of Broadcast Engineers recognizes 15 broadcast professionals as Certified Broadcast Networking Engineer after the first round of CBNE certification exams. Webinars by SBE will present a live webinar on Sept. 11, 2012, to assist those taking the CBNE exam during upcoming exam sessions.
"With this new certification the SBE is able to recognize a more advanced networking skill set that many broadcast engineers possess. We expect a large number of those with the CBNT who have naturally progressed and acquired more skills to take the CBNE in the near future as well as anyone with an advanced knowledge of networking in the broadcast field," said SBE National Certification Committee Chairman Jim Bernier, CPBE CBNT.
Those who currently hold the CBNE certification include: Rafael Aguillon, CBTE CBNE; Terry Baun, CPBE AMD CBNE; Paul Claxton, CPBE CBNE; Ralph Hogan, CPBE DRB CBNE; Michael Helke, CBNE; Jesse Janosky, CBTE CBNE; Paul Jonak, CSTE 8-VSB CBRE CEA CEV CBNE; Alan Jurison, CSRE AMD DRB CBNE; Jerry Martin, CSTE CBNE; Michael Norton, CSTE CBNE; Wayne Pecena, CPBE 8-VSB AMD DRB CBNE; Mark Simpson, CPBE AMD DRB CBNE; Chris Tarr, CSRE DRB CBNE; Barry Thomas, CPBE DRB CBNE; and John Justin Tucker, CSRE AMD CBNE.
The CBNE exam is designed for experienced broadcast professionals with significant experience in IP networks and associated storage and playout technologies employed in radio and television operations. The CBNE is an advanced level of certification with exam content that is more complex than the Certified Broadcast Networking Technologist certification also offered by the SBE.
Eligible engineers may apply to take the CBNE exam during the November 2-16, 2012, exam session offered through local chapters of the SBE. Applications to take the exam must be received in the SBE National Office by September 14. The CBNE requires a minimum of five years of broadcast engineering experience to qualify for the certification exam. No additional certifications are required to apply.
Broadcast professionals taking the CBNE exam may also download the SBE CertPreview for CBNE on the SBE website or request a CD. The SBE CertPreview study tool, quizzes users on over 50 questions similar to those on the actual exam.
