Onde Numerique Obtains L-band Digital Radio Franchise Throughout France
Paris - Nov 8, 2012 - Onde Numerique has been chosen by France's CSA to operate a pay digital radio service, which is due to launch in 2014 in about 140 cities, and will cost about €10 ($13) per month, according to Telecom Paper.
Plans call for the carriage of all genres of music, Radio France and Euronews. In total, 64 stations will be available, of which 50 will be exclusive.
The service will run in the L-band with terrestrial transmitters, with satellite support. To build a subscriber base, Onde Numerique will offer it in 2013 as a streaming service.
