NY AES to Commemorate FM's 75 Years
New York - Jan 6, 2010 - The New York City section of the Audio Engineering Society is planning a tribute to Major Armstrong's first public demonstration of FM broadcasting for its Jan. 12, 2010, meeting. A panel discussion will look at Armstrong's legacy, including insights from several who worked with him and others who keep his achievements in the public eye.
Steve Hemphill of Solid Electronic Laboratories and an Armstrong fan will discuss the Armstrong's work. Herb Squire of DSI RF Systems will discuss Armstrong's Yankee Network audio quality compared to other networks of the day. This will include audio clip samples. Scott Fybush will look at some of the improvements of FM broadcasting since Armstrong's time
The meeting will be held Jan. 12, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. at the Hearst Corporation Tower, Joseph Urban Theater.
