Local Community Radio Act Passes Subcommittee, Heads to House
Washington - Oct 15, 2009 - The House Committee on Energy and Commerce voted unanimously on Oct. 15, 2009, to pass the Local Community Radio Act (HR 1147). Reps. Mike Doyle (D-PA) and Lee Terry (R-NE) introduced the legislation, and have the support of more than 80 cosponsors in the House.
A companion bill (S. 592), sponsored by Senators Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and John McCain (R-AZ) is pending before the Senate Commerce Committee. Prior versions of the Senate bill have passed through the Senate Commerce Committee three times.
