Digital Radio will Start in Paris, Marseille and Nice on June 20 as Scheduled
Paris - June 10, 2014 — The start date for DAB+ in France remains June 20. RadioNL is reporting that 14 of the 19 multiplex transmitters slated to be turned up will indeed be on by the end of this month; this will include six in Paris, four in Marseille, and four in Nice.
Multiplex operators RadioMux, RMux, SDN, and France Multiplex Radio Coop have collaborated in the construction of a multiplex transmitter site in Paris. Paris sites include Tour Defense 2000; Fort Romainville in the northeast of Paris; and Montmartre, in the north part of the city.
In June, two years ago, the major French radio groups, including Lagardère, RTL, NextRadio TV, NRJ, and even Radio France tried their best to keep digital radio from gaining a foothold throughout France. However, the CSA pressed ahead, issuing 173 licenses for broadcast stations to make use of the multiplex capacity that was planned then.
